West Des Moines Sex Discrimination and Retaliation Lawsuit Heats Up
The City of West Des Moines and the West Des Moines Police Chief are parties to a sexual discrimination and retaliation lawsuit brought by three female employees. Among the allegations brought forth in the lawsuit are that the police chief instilled an environment of gender bias among officers, leading to insubordination toward one of the plaintiffs; that less-qualified men were promoted ahead of the women bringing the complaint; that male officers of equal standing to one of the female officers received higher pay raises during a defined period; that the women were treated disrespectfully and that their repeated reports of sex discrimination and retaliatory behavior fell on deaf ears when they brought their concerns to city officials.
Employment discrimination is a problem across the country. Sex or gender discrimination is treating individuals differently in their employment specifically because an individual is a woman or a man. If you have been rejected for employment, fired, or otherwise harmed in employment because of your sex or gender, you may be a victim of sex or gender discrimination. Seeking prompt legal help is key if you feel you have suffered sexual discrimination or employer retaliation.
