Obtaining Photo Evidence Following an Injury Accident

Posted on October 13, 2018

Stoltze & Stoltze PLCIf you are involved in an injury accident, photographs obtained from the scene can speak volumes to the insurance company who might otherwise discount a claim. Fortunately, these days most everyone has a phone equipped with a camera so taking a number of photos can help you obtain a fair settlement.

If you are involved in a car accident, for example, you will want to take photographs as soon as possible to represent the condition of the evidence. Take pictures of the vehicles involved from different angles, paying particular attention to damage sustained. Also take pictures of the surrounding area, which may provide clues to what lead up to the accident in the first place.

If there is damage to your car, there is a good chance your body was impacted too. Pictures can help you prove injuries that may not be medically obvious but are painful and debilitating nonetheless.

Photo evidence of the overall scene may reveal something you were unaware of that may explain what happened. Photographs can fill in the blanks by showing road or weather conditions, poor signage or particular heavy traffic that may have contributed to the accident.

Remember that enabling date and time stamping on your camera or having a friend witness that you took pictures of the scene will help tie the photographs to the accident. Be sure to make notes regarding your thoughts when taking the photographs and any other pertinent information and include these items in your overall documentation of the accident events to support your personal injury claim.

If you or a family member has been injured in a car or truck accident, slip or fall, or other injury accident, it is important to seek the help of an experienced personal injury attorney who can advise you every step of the way so you get the full compensation that you are entitled to.
